Photos

What kind of photo do you need?

One clear phone photo of your horse's head in daylight, from any angle, taken at eye level with the whole head and both ears in the frame. One photo is enough. For the Monochrome style, which turns your horse to look into the camera, a second photo from the front gives the closest likeness.

What if my photo isn't perfect?

When you upload it, we look at it straight away and tell you kindly if something would help, like a sharper photo or one with both ears in it. You can always use it anyway, and we check every portrait by hand before it's printed.

Can I use an old printed photo?

Yes. Scan it at 600 dpi, or photograph it flat in daylight without glare. If it won't give a good likeness, we tell you before anything is printed.

Can you remove a halter or combine two photos?

Yes. Write to us after you order with what you'd like: we can remove or keep a halter or bridle, or take the body from one photo and the head from another.

Your portrait

How does it work?

Choose a style and a format, upload one photo, and your portrait is made while you watch, usually in a minute or two. You see three versions, can try other styles for free, and only pay for the one you love.

How many changes can I ask for?

As many as it takes for the portrait to look like your horse, free of charge. Tell us what's off, for example the width of the blaze, and we fix it before anything is printed.

What if I'm not happy with the portrait?

Tell us what doesn't feel right and we change it. If we still can't get it right, you get a full refund. Free changes until you love it, or your money back.

Is the portrait made with AI?

Yes, image AI creates the artwork from your photo. Every portrait is then checked by hand against your photo before it's printed, so the markings and expression match your horse.

Prints and frames

What paper and canvas do you use?

Fine art paper is printed giclée with archival pigment inks on a soft, natural matte paper, made to last for generations. Canvas is a matte canvas hand-stretched over a solid wood frame, ready to hang.

Which frames can I choose?

Fine art paper comes unframed, or in a solid wood frame in black, white, oak or dark oak, with an optional wide white mat. Canvas can have a floating frame in oak, dark oak, black or white: a slim frame with a small shadow gap around the canvas.

Which size should I choose?

30 × 40 cm (12 × 16 in) suits a shelf or a small wall. 40 × 60 cm (16 × 24 in) fits above a sofa or in a hallway. 50 × 70 cm (20 × 28 in) is a statement piece. 70 × 100 cm (28 × 40 in) is the largest, on fine art paper and unframed only.

What goes on the nameplate?

Your horse's name and an optional second line, such as years, a stable name or a short phrase, in classic, modern or script lettering. On framed prints with a mat it's a brass-toned nameplate printed in the mat beneath the portrait, so it never comes loose. Otherwise the text sits small and quiet at the bottom of the portrait.

What do I get with the digital file?

The high-resolution file of your portrait, plus phone and desktop wallpapers, by email. You can print it yourself for personal use.

Delivery

How long does it take?

Printing takes 2 to 4 working days. Delivery then takes 4 to 6 working days in the US, and 1 to 4 in the EU and the UK. You see the expected date before you order. See shipping and returns for details.

Where do you ship?

To the United States, the 27 countries of the European Union and the United Kingdom. Pay in US dollars for the US, euros for the EU and pounds for the UK.

Will I pay customs?

No. Your portrait is printed in the region it ships to, so there are no customs fees on delivery.

Payment

When do I pay?

Only once you've seen your portrait and chosen the version you love. Seeing it is free. You pay at checkout.

How do I pay?

Through Stripe's secure payment page: cards, Apple Pay, Google Pay and, in many countries, Klarna. We never see your card details.

Do prices include VAT?

Yes, prices in euros and pounds include VAT. Prices in US dollars don't include sales tax; if your state requires it, it's shown at checkout before you pay.

Returns and damage

Can I return a portrait?

Because each portrait is made to order from your photo, we can't take it back once it's printed. That's why you see it before you pay, with free changes until you love it, or a full refund before anything is printed.

What if it arrives damaged?

Send us a photo of the damage and the packaging within 14 days. We send a new one free of charge.
